Marie Chaput
Marie Chaput started Thread in 2001, out of her own need for high quality window treatments. For many years before, she had been sewing draperies and kids’ costumes. With some encouragement and sewing help from her mother and the skills she learned from her grandmother, Thread was born!
Marie’s grandmother lived with her as a child. As Marie recalls, “I remember her sewing nook in the house. She made quilts and clothing and did some alterations as well.” Marie would watch her grandmother sew, sometimes helping her hand quilt. She was always intrigued with how things were made and constructed. Couple this with the work ethic her father instilled in her and it’s no wonder she’s a successful business owner.
Home renovations and yard work might sound like dreaded chores to most of us, but Marie finds them very therapeutic. She explains, “I like the repetitive nature of pulling weeds and seeing the beauty afterwards.” Marie is the thread of Thread—from the day to day operations to the craftsmanship of the products, she is immersed in it all.
